About

 Ahmed Younes is currently the Vice Dean of Education and Student Affairs, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University. Manager of the International Scientific Publishing Center, Alexandria University. Also, he is the former Academic Supervisor of the Faculty of Computers and Data Science, Alexandria University.

He is Professor of Computer Science (Quantum Computing) at Alexandria University and Honorary Research Fellow at School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. He is the founder and leader of Alexandria Quantum Computing Group (AleQCG), the manager of the Center of Excellence for Quantum Computers – Alexandria University, the coordinator of the Professional Master in Quantum Computing and Quantum Information, the coordinator of QEgypt (QWorld cousin) and the representative of Egypt in World Quantum Day.

He obtained his PhD from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom in 2004 in quantum circuits and quantum algorithms. He introduced techniques in amplitude amplifications and quantum search algorithms, known as `Partial Diffusion Operator' and made contributions in representing Quantum Boolean circuits as Reed-Muller logic. He published many papers in Quantum Algorithms, Quantum cryptography and Reversible Circuits.

 Establishment of the Professional Master in Quantum Computing and Quantum Information Program, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University.

 Establishment Of QEgypt, A QCousin Of QWorld Association.

 Supervised with degree awarded: 18 Master students and 7 PhD students.

 Organized and contributed in many workshops and seminars in quantum computing in Egypt (physical and online) and worldwide (online).

 Introduced of quantum computing courses in the BSc level, the MSc and the PhD level in the syllabus of Faculty of Science, Alexandria University and many other universities in Egypt.

 Establishment of Cooperations with Many Quantum Computing Research Groups in Egypt and worldwide Such as United States, Germany, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Libya, and Tunisia.

Establishment of the MIS, LMS and SIS in Faculty of Science, Alexandria University.

Finished 7 Science-Up projects as principal investigator funded by STDF - Science and Technology Development Fund.

Research interests

 

I am generally interested in quantum computing, especially quantum algorithms and quantum circuits. I am also interested in non-standard computation such as DNA computing and biologically inspired computing. My publications can be included under the following topics:
